Illinois Family Law Attorneys
Divorce
There are basically two
parts to divorce—property division and child
custody. First, you have to split up your
property, both marital and nonmarital. If
you are wondering what is and is not marital
property,
call Franks & Rechenberg, P.C. for a
consultation. We would be happy to answer
any questions you may have.
Second, if you have
children, you have to figure out how you are
going to raise them. Even though you are no
longer together, you still need to work
together for the best interests of your
children. With the help of your divorce
lawyer, you must decide on who gets child
custody, how much child support is going to
be, and establish a visitation schedule.
Post-Decree Modification
Divorces are both
stressful and complicated. If a couple
drafts their own decree, it’s easy to leave
something out. Also, circumstances can
sometimes change in unforeseen ways. When
that happens, it may be necessary to revisit
and modify the divorce decree. We have
helped people modify their original divorce
decrees. If you find that you have to go
back to the negotiating table, take Franks &
Rechenberg, P.C. with you.
Paternity
If a couple doesn’t get
married, and has a child between them, it is
necessary to establish paternity.
Establishing paternity is beneficial for all
parties. Once paternity is established, the
mother can receive from the father the
financial support that the child needs. The
father can establish his custody and
visitation rights, and the child’s future is
secured.
Adoption
Of all the areas of family
law that we practice, this one is the most
satisfying. We know that not all families
are solely created by blood, and it’s a
pleasure to help adoptive families legally
solidify their relationships. We handle both
domestic and international adoptions.

It is possible to deal
with family law matters without a lawyer,
but we would not recommend it. Even
uncontested divorces can become complex.
Post-decree and paternity matters can also
be emotionally stressful. If you retain a
qualified attorney, you have an advocate on
your side who knows the law and can provide
you objective advice. With a combined total
of more than 25 years representing clients,
we have the knowledge and experience to help
you.
Experience counts. Results matter.
